Biography
Born in 1984, Fransix Tenda Lomba is a visual artist; he lives and works in Kinshasa. He is associate artist to Kin Art Studio structure (KAS), a creative project based in Kinshasa and directed by Vitshois Mwilambwe. After graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa (bachelor degree +3), he participated in various workshops, residencies, exhibitions in Africa and Europe. His practice includes painting, drawing, installation, sculpture and video. He is interested in used manufactured products collected around the world (cans, boxes, cartons and other), as a way of expression. Since 2011, his work focuses on aluminium used objects, exploring the blurred lines between private and public spaces, as well as daily relationships of individuals with surrounding materials. He paints faces and other forms on the boxes that he has first distorted and hammered. The process reflects neuroses and perplexities born out of urban chaos and daily difficulties.
